Officers Installed - In with the New!

By all accounts, Concord Breakfast Toastmasters is an old club...approaching the 55th anniversary of its charter. But old doesn't have to mean stodgy or decrepit... The club officers who were installed today are a great mix of new and experienced members, making for a very promising year.

Our new President, Gurpreet Kaur, and our new Vice President of Membership, Eric Bergquist, are first time club officers. First time officers are great for the health of the club in that they are not burdened with preconceived ideas about what works and what doesn't and can offer fresh ideas for improving the club. Gurpreet has already offered new ideas to the club to help broaden the appeal of our club (this blog is one of them.) Eric has great people skills which he can use to help make sure that all our members are getting what they want and need from the club as well as to make sure that every guest who visits the club will have and experience which makes them want to join.

Our new treasurer, Rich Travis, and our new Vice President of Public Relations, Rajesh Madhaven, are second term club officers and with some experience and some wisdom gained from that experience. They, too, still have fresh eyes to focus on managing the clubs activities in ways that will appeal to a broad spectrum of new members.

Coming off a term as the Area B17 Governor, and having served as President of two different Toastmasters Clubs, I'll be able to bring knowledge and ideas gleaned from the District Executive Committee, other clubs in the area, and personal experience as club president to my role as the new Sergeant at Arms.

And finally, our new club secretary and DTM, Ken Smith, and our new club Vice President of Education, Arlinda Smith, bring many years of Toastmasters experience at the District, Division, Area, and club levels. The vast wealth of knowlege they bring to the club will help turn all the great new ideas in to practicle, doable form, helping to ensure that Concord Breakfast Toastmasters extends its eleven year run as a President's Distinguished Club.

WHAT A GREAT TEAM! Congratulations to all.
